Puss 'n Boots (Feat. Catherine Popper & Friends)
This magical trio is led by beautiful 3-part harmony, playing country standards and originals. You won't be sorry! Like the Andrews Sisters meets Wanda Jackson meets George Jones, they put the CBGB in CBGB. Whimsical, charming, heartwarming and sloppy as a tongue kiss from your dog, George. Your face is gonna hurt from smiling. Popper has played bass with Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Ryan Adams & the Cardinals and Norah Jones, among others. She is currently on tour as a member of Jack White's solo band. Popper also used to frequent the jam sessions and fireplace hangs at Levon's that eventually became the Ramble. She and Levon played together as a rhythm section, on a few small projects, and she'd often sub on bass at the Ramble, when their bassist couldn't make it.
A native of Austin TX, Suzanna Choffel combines her poetic lyrics and sweet smoky voice with funky urban rhythms to create a fresh and unique sound. In March 2009, Suzanna won the "Best Indie Band" prize at the Austin Music Awards-SXSW 2009, and in April 2009 she won 2nd Place in the "AAA" category of the prestigious International Songwriting Competition. She uses her guitar to create staccato rhythms underneath her dazzling soulful vocal melodies, all backed by a pulsing band with unique instrumentation. Her music has been described as "indie pop with urban beats", and "jazz-infused soul pop" with comparisons ranging from Feist to Nelly Furtado to Norah Jones to KT Tunstall.
Bug & Bru (from The Defibulators)
“Clever, hotfooted, Brooklyn-born bluegrass septet The DEFiBULATORS bring the mix du jour of punky energy and hipster insouciance, doing hillbilly with wry humor. There’s a playful junkyard raggedness—not to mention pretty duet vocal harmonies—between Erin Bru and Bug Jennings that brings a homey charm to their debut LP"
